Ok. So I have definitely fallen behind on my blogging, but that definitely has taken low priority to everything else I have been up to lately. For starters, I was enrolled in abnormal psychology for the summer one term, which was definitely interesting and helped me finish up my psychology minor (One down, One to go!). At the beginning of the summer, I changed my major from Psychology to Biology in order to better prepare myself for my intention of attending Medical School upon my graduation. However, I couldn't imagine myself just leaving all of my hard psychology work in the dust, considering my ambition is to be a psychiatrist, which is why it is now my declared minor alongside chemistry. Quite literally two days after my first summer term, I packed up and left for Miss Arkansas. It was such a wonderful experience packed with tons of hard-working and admirable girls. Arkansas had some AMAZING contestants this year! Alyse Eady, the new MA, is such a wonderful girl and she definitely made the experience more fun for newbies like myself. I was so proud to see her win... maybe she will take us all for a ride in her new camero?? Haha. After finally recovering from the sleep lack I experienced at state, I was back to work at Hastings and catching up my computer Developmental Psychology class. Just when I thought I would finally be having some down time this summer, I added two runway shows to the schedule, took an acting seminar, and have a runway class next week. SHEW!! What a crazy summer I have been having, but I have never felt so proud and accomplished as I have in the weeks since the end of my Spring term. Praise God and all of his blessings!!!!!

Oh my, oh my! What a fun-filled weekend I have just managed to endure! For those of you reading this who don't know, the Miss Arkansas Contestant meeting was yesterday and the golf tournament held at Chenal C.C. for potential scholarships was today. I had an absolute blast getting to meet some of the girls at the fashion show and I am very pleased with my placement in the lineup. I am contestant number 36 in group c! I had such a good time at the golf tournament, despite the heat. It was almost hilarious to listen to the different stereotypes that they all had about what we would all be like and it turned into a game trying to prove them wrong. With that being said, it is so exciting to have everything in high gear on the path to Miss Arkansas and this week is my crack down week. Which means no birthday cake thursday when I turn 19!!!
So. I haven't written in a while, I've realized and the more I commit myself to getting on here and leaving an update, the more I realize that I have so much to say.
For starters, my days have been pretty packed with voice lessons (SWAY) and interview lessons. On top of my pageant preparation, I just recently signed on with a modelling company, so start to watch for me! On top of that, school is almost over!!! :)
But amidst all of these fun and time-consuming things I've been up to, tragedy has struck within the closest confines of my heart. My friend, the man who filled my brother's shoes when he graduated, the person I so looked up to met his untimely death last Saturday. I've been absolutely devastated. His wedding was less than a month away to the only girlfriend (and he her only boyfriend) he had ever known. He was a great man, among the best and that's the honest truth. Now, I wouldn't be saying this on this website unless there was something related, and there is. You see, JT died in a motorcycle wreck. From what I understand, he was wearing a helmet, but it didn't fit properly. He was only 21. With the issue of helmet safety already being so close to my heart, when I lost this brother, it struck way too close to home. Nobody is safe. Please remember that. It is always important to make sure you have properly fitting helmets and that you wear one.
I would appreciate it, also if you would keep the Crites and Albright families in your prayers. JT was a great man and anybody that knew him can vouch for that.

Wow it's been a long week....
I had my head shots appointment on Tuesday with Max Slaughter and it went really well. The photos were so beautiful and I am so looking forward to using them at state. He asked me to go back and shoot for fun, which is another thing I am looking forward to since I know he will have some amazing additions to my portfolio! I really want to get a few strong pictures together and start trying to get my modelling career going again... but that's another story.
Wednesday I registered for fall and summer classes and visited the shelter animals once again and played with a couple of the dogs that they had available. It was fun, as always. I am super excited about the classes I will be taking next year and over the summer. However, this week kind of had a crazy downfall when I visited the doctor and found out I had developed an injury in my knee from working out too hard. Now I have to lay off for six whole weeks. Joy.
Yet ANOTHER busy weekend has come and gone and I am looking forward to a busy week coming up. I can't say I haven't had fun, though. I've had opportunities to rub shoulders with several Arkansas "celebrities". Sunday, I was asked to be a part of a "celebrity" pool tournament put on by local radio personality T-Smooth. Korto Momolu, runner up to my FAVORITE show ever, Project Runway was there, I definitely made a point to talk to her. Another person I was looking forward to meeting was Furonda, runner up to my second favorite show, Project Runway. They were both incredibly nice and I had so much fun playing pool with them. There were also several NFL players and Nickelodeon's Lil JJ. The celebrity weekend seemed to be a success, and I hope that T-Smooth was pleased with the outcome and raised enough for his scholarships. I have posted a fun picture of Lindsey Ahrens - Miss Tech 2010, Layla Crouch - Mrs. Arkansas River Valley 2009, "Pool Boy" Alice 107.7 radio personality, Brandi Bugg - Miss River Valley International 2010, and yours truly, Miss Ozark Highlands!

Oh man... today has been relatively eventful. This morning at 9:00 by high school friend Dee and I went to Arkansas Tech's blood drive to donate blood (attached picture of me and her). Not only am I squeamish, but I am also TERRIFIED of needles, so it took quit a bit to work up the nerve. I definitely intend to donate again, even though I had to get two of fingers pricked to test my blood iron level (which was too low the first time and too high the second). Just as I was having a miniature mental break down about the needle, the boy in the chair next to me passed out and had a seizure. SCARY. And, to top off my blood giving experience today, I almost passed out and still have yet to regain feeling in my right arm. **Sigh**
However, on the bright side, I got my hair done, so I am substantially less white-haired. That, I believe tops off the major events of my day. Hopefully tomorrow I will get down to the shelter again...

Happy Easter!! For me, this marks the end of a very eventful weekend. Friday, after setting up my new fish tank (my betta fish is pretty spoiled) I went home and Saturday was the Miss Little Rock and Miss Metro pageants. It was my first time out in the pageant world since winning my title, so I had the opportunity to meet several of the other queens going to Miss Arkansas this year and see some of my friends from teen!! I even got to see Mr. Gregg Frizzell at Applause in between pageants to talk a little about my wardrobe (which is always exciting). Attached is a picture of Miss Petit Jean Valley's Outstanding Teen 2010, Mackenzie Bryant and me in a dress loaned to me by Rendezvous formal wear of Russellville.

*SIGH*
So another long day has almost passed and I can't be more pleased with the wonderful weather. It has sparked new interests in me (besides cleaning out my closet) and today I finally got to carry one out. Firstly, you should know that I am a staunch animal lover. I LOVE PETA and if it were in any way practical for my active lifestyle, I probably would do the whole crazy hippie vegan thing. So, with that in mind, I took a trip down to our local animal shelter and became a volunteer! Today was the first day I got to walk and play with some of the dogs and their happiness was all the reward I needed. It was so nice to just walk in and see their wagging tails when I know that they really don't get a lot of attention. I stayed for a little over an hour and took three of them out today, a cute puppy I nicknamed "Fluffy" who was half chou and half german shepherd, a long torso-ed pug and pekingnese mix, and a shy little schnouzer dog who was probably the most precious thing I have ever seen. The photo attached is of Fluffy. :)

So, I have worked endlessly today to finish preparing my website, which I think I can still give a few tweaks. Nevertheless, I feel so strongly about my platform that I felt it was important for me to publish something to the web not long after winning Miss Ozark Highlands. I really wish I could put into words the gratitude that I feel for making it to Miss Arkansas this year! Just making my way in to the Miss system, I never really saw this coming, and I feel so blessed to have been given this opportunity. I am so looking forward to working with my new directors in preparation for the state pageant! What a wonderful experience this is going to be! I can't wait to meet the girls that I didn't get a chance to meet throughout my journey in teen and during Miss Lake Dardanelle, Miss Tech, and Miss Ozark Highlands this year. Thank you all for taking the time to look at my website, this all really meets so much to me!
